Dorothy H. Drake, of Andover, Ohio, died Saturday, Sept. 10, 2016, in UPMC Horizon, Farrell. She was 94.

She was born May 3,1922, in Pittsburgh, a daughter of John A. and Leonora A. (Egler) Battung.

Formerly of Willowick, Ohio, Mrs. Drake had been a resident of Andover since 1974.

She served overseas in the U.S. Army during World War II as a psychiatric nurse.

Mrs. Drake then married Walter John Drake Sr., on May 4, 1946. They owned and operated Drake's Hardware in Willoughby, Ohio, for many years.

Mrs. Drake was a long-time member of Our Lady of Victory Catholic Church in Andover, where she belonged to the Altar and Rosary Society, Mission Society and choir. She also served as a lector, Eucharistic minister and CCD teacher, and served on parish council.

Mrs. Drake had also been a member of the American Legion.

She is survived by her two daughters, Dorothy A. (Ed) Krasnicki, East Aurora, N.Y.; and Suzanne M. (Basil) Zitelli, Pittsburgh; her four sons, Walter J. (Judy) Drake, Fairport, N.Y.; Robert D. (Fran) Drake, Transfer; James L. (Lea) Drake, Seville, Ohio; and Jeffery A. (Kathy) Drake, Monroe Falls, Ohio; 14 grandchildren, Matt, Dan, Ben, Anne, Josh, Amelia, Aaron, Nate, Nora, Kate, Audra, Erin, Ian and Erin; and 11 great-grandchildren.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Walter John Drake, on June 24, 1979; two great-grandsons, Atticus and Sebastian Drake; two brothers, John A. and Raymond C. Battung; and one sister, Alberta C. Schwalm.
