Mercer, Pennsylvania - Doris Mae Merritt, 96, of Mercer, passed away at St. Paul's in Greenville on Monday, May 26, 2025.

On Jan. 5, 1929, she was born in Cochranton to the late Robert and Winifred (Carson) McCracken.

Doris formerly worked as the director for Mercer County courts, was a member of Mercer United Methodist Church, former Mercer Bridge Club and Mercer Garden Club.

Surviving is her companion, Howard Ferry, Mercer; daughter-in-law, Glenda Merritt, Hermitage; three grandsons, Daniel Merritt, Andrew (Cindy) Merritt and Samuel Merritt. She is also survived by four great-grandchildren, Marissa, Emily, Matthew and Cassidy.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, William Bruce Merritt (died May 14, 1975); daughter, Celeste P. Merritt; son, Bruce K. Merritt; and brother, Robert McCracken Jr.

Services: 11 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home with Rev. Brian Keller of Mercer United Methodist Church officiating.

Interment: Cochranton Cemetery.
