Donna Mae Shearer
Donna Mae Shearer Obituary
Hermitage, PA - Donna Mae (Nottingham) Shearer, 84, of Hermitage, passed away on Friday, May 29, 2026, at Clepper Manor, Sharon, after an extended illness.
Born Aug. 16, 1941, in Sharon, she was the daughter of the late Carl and Florence (Sherwood) Nottingham.
She graduated from Sharon High School and over her professional career she worked for Community Counseling Center of Mercer County, Matsko's Pizza (West Middlesex), Sharon General Hospital and Sharon Steel Corp.
Donna approached her work career with a strong sense of responsibility and dedication.
She was highly detailed and task-oriented and consistently prioritized her work commitments. This was something she passed on to those around her.
Her attention to detail also extended beyond the workplace and was reflected in her meticulously clean and well-maintained home.
Donna Mae, or "Ma" as she was affectionately known, deeply loved her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren, and was proud of their accomplishments.
She was a homebody whose resilience carried her through every stage of life.
She was a beloved daughter who shared an exceptionally close bond with her parents. She was an incredible caregiver to them, especially as they entered the final stages of their lives.
In another time and place, her true calling might have been as a dog trainer. She would have stood proudly among today's renowned "dog whisperers." Chester and Moe certainly knew best.
She is now reunited with her soulmate, Pa, serving once again as his "eternal groupie."
She is survived by two sons, Brian (Nikki) Budd, of Columbus, Ohio; and Timothy Shearer, of Transfer; three daughters, Lori Crawford, of Sharon; Robin (Tom) Poklar, of Harbor Creek, Pa.; and Rhonda (Christian) Kaltenbaugh, of Erie; a brother-in-law, Larry Shearer, of Sharon; a sister-in-law, Susan (David) Gollner, of Hermitage; a sister-in-law, Elaine Shearer, of Boardman, Ohio; 11 grandchildren, Tommy Crawford (Carly), Ian Crawford (Alyssa), Amelia Crawford, Greyson Budd, Braden Budd (Samantha), Garrison Budd, Braleigh Budd, Brittany Moore, Mitchell Kaltenbaugh, Hannah Martig and Mackenzie Shearer; and six great-grandchildren, Moira, Hadley, Eliana, Bennett, Rowan and Luca.
She is preceded in death by her beloved husband, Robert Shearer.
The family would like to offer a heartfelt thank you to the staff at Clepper Manor and the many hospice nurses who provided compassionate and loving care during her stay.
Memorial contributions can be made to the Dementia Society of America or the Alzheimer's Association.
