New Bedford, PA - Debra Jean Costa, 68, of New Bedford, passed peacefully in her sleep at Hermitage Nursing and Rehabilitation due to an extended illness.

She was born May 9, 1957, to James (Baldy) and Jean Thompson in Sharon.

Debra was a 1975 graduate of Sharon High School.

Debra's lifelong passion was animals. She supported many animal relief organizations and was also a reputable Chinese Shar-Pei breeder before her illness.

She also enjoyed read-ing, swimming, camping and spending time with her family and friends.

She is survived by her father, James (Baldy) Thompson, and children Thomas and Courtney Costa, all of Sharon; sister Cynthia Lynch of Streetsboro Ohio; brother, James Thompson of Sharon; and sister Connie Thompson of Lutz, Fla.

Debra was preceded in death by her mother, Jean Thompson.
