David A. Lawrence, 74, of Zephyrhills, Fla., formerly of Masury, Ohio, passed away on Sunday, April 21, 2024, at Advent Hospital in Zephyrhills.

David was born July 13, 1949, in Sharon, a son of Anthony J. and Antoinette A. Musial Lawrence.

He was a 1967 graduate of Brookfield High School.

David was a layout man at General American in Masury and, after its closing, worked as a union carpenter based out of Sharon.

He was a proud veteran of the U.S. Army, enlisting in 1969 and serving during the Vietnam War, D Company, and received the Combat Infantry Badge. He especially enjoyed attending his Army reunions.

David played in the Penn-Ohio Polka Pals band and was nominated for a Grammy Award.

He also enjoyed playing guitar and banjo, making trips back home, and loved spending time with his grandchildren.

He will be fondly remembered and sadly missed by his family: his wife, the former Joan Zipay, whom he married Nov. 28, 1976; his son D.J. (Jeanine) Lawrence of Florida; and two grandchildren, Reece and Selah. He also leaves his brother, Jeffrey Lawrence of Ohio.

His parents preceded him in death.
