Darian James Keyser (Bubs) Obituary

Darian James "Bubs" Keyser, 18, was called home to be with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Monday (Feb. 17, 2020).

He was born on June 4, 2001, in Greenville, a son of Brian and Renee (Morris) Keyser.

Born with a club foot, he endured numerous treatments until he had corrective surgery at age 5, which required a lengthy period of healing. The doctors were skeptical he would ever play sports. Boy, were they wrong! He immersed himself in playing and watching football, baseball and basketball.

He was a die-hard Pittsburgh sports fan, cheering on the Steelers, Pirates, and Pitt football and basketball. He was active at Jamestown Area High School, serving as class president from grades 9-12, and participating in Spanish Club, National Honor Society, and even writing for the newspaper during his senior year.

However his greatest joy at Jamestown High School was wearing the purple and gold of the Muskies on the basketball court and baseball field. He was an important part of two straight District 10 Single A Baseball championship teams and also a key player on the 2019 Single A District 10 Basketball champions. He recently reached one o f his life goals, scoring 1,000 career points, becoming only the fifth Jamestown High School boys player to do so. His plan was to attend Geneva College after high school and major in business administration and play basketball.

He was active at First Baptist Church of Greenville and their youth group. One of the highlights for him was a summer mission trip to Vermont, helping at a homeless shelter. He loved to help others.

Darian is survived and loved eternally by: his parents, Brian and Renee Keyser of Jamestown; an older sister, Mikayla; and a younger brother, Cameron. He is also missed by his long-time sweetheart, Katelyn Crist. He is also survived by grandparents, Charles and Geraldine Keyser of Somerset and William and Helen Morris of Summerhill. He is also dearly loved by his uncles, aunts, cousins, extended family and friends.

Memorial contributions may be made in Darian's name to Shriners Hospital of Erie, 1645 W. 8th St., Erie, PA 16505 or to Jamestown Boys Basketball C/O Coach Lucas Widger, Jamestown High School, 204 Shenango St., Jamestown, PA 16134.
