Clarissa A. Ion Obituary

Clarissa A. Ion, Sharon, passed away on Saturday morning, Oct. 12, 2019 at her residence. She was 78.

She was born in New Kensington, Pa., on April 20, 1941, a daughter of the late Robert Riley and Sarah G. (Deer) Montgomery,Sr.

Clarissa was a graduate of Elderton High School.

She was foremost a homemaker, who enjoyed cooking and baking. She had also been employed by Rainbow Valley Restaurant and Long Market, Worthington.

She was an avid bowler, having bowled in several leagues. She could often be found playing bingo.

Clarissa was married to Clair B. Butz, who preceded her in death in 1970 when he was killed serving our country in Vietnam. She subsequently married Wilfred G. Ion Sr. who preceded her in death in 2004.

She is survived by three daughters, Kimberly Yeany, Hadley, Shelli McCombs, Sharon, and Melissa Ion-Patterson, Kittanning; one son, Wilfred G. Ion Jr., Kittanning; three sisters, Myretta Waltenbaugh, Kinsman, Ohio, Avis Smith, Kittanning and Sally Baker, Kittanning; eight grandchildren, Charles Duttry, Ohio, Michael Duttry, Greenville, Ashley Zanettti, Sharon, Alexus Wilson, Sharon, Nathan Ion, Apollo, Kody Ion, Apollo, Daunte Ion, Apollo and Gavin Hoak, Apollo and six great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; both her husbands; two sisters, Charlotte Reedy and Peggy Crissman; and a brother, Robert Riley Montgomery Jr.

The family will honor and celebrate the life of Clarissa with private family services.

Cremation arrangements have been entrusted to the care and direction of ROBERT L. SNYDER FUNERAL HOME and CREMATORY Inc., Sheakleyville.
