Christine Elizabeth Burger Obituary

Hermitage, PA - Christine Elizabeth Burger, 64, of Hermitage, passed away peacefully on March 28, 2025, surrounded by loved ones.

Christine was born on Aug. 5, 1960, to Joan (Begeny) and Melvin R. Walker in Sharon.

She was a 1978 graduate of Sharon High School, where she was voted "Best Personality" by her classmates — a fitting superlative for a woman who never met a stranger.

Her warmth, easy laugh and genuine kindness made her a friend to everyone she encountered, leaving a lasting impression on all who knew her.

After earning her degree at Bowling Green State University, Chris built a career in workforce development while managing an active home life.

Prior to retirement, she served her community as the site administrator of the Pennsylvania CareerLink in downtown Sharon.

She married her late husband, Chester M. Burger, Jr. on May 14, 1988, and they began their life together in DuBois, Pa., before returning to the valley.

Together they shared 35 years of love and companionship.

Chris was a prolific shopper, who enjoyed sharing her latest deals with family and friends. She enjoyed entertaining and laughing with loved ones, walks with her sweet pup, Cully, and was a loyal Pittsburgh sports fan.

She always looked forward to family trips to Stone Harbor, N.J., where she and her family had countless happy memories and she found her peace in early morning beach walks.

She was an active member of St. Michael's Byzantine Catholic Church in Hermitage. Her faith was a guiding light in her life, and she cherished the friendships, encouragement and support of the parish family.

Christine is survived by her mother, Joan Walker of Hermitage; sons, Andrew Burger of New Kensington, Pa.; and Alex (Michelle) Burger of Pittsburgh; brother, Craig (Trina) Walker of Allison Park, Pa.; niece, Jordan Walker of Austin, Texas; nephew, Graham Walker of Washington D.C., Md.; and many cherished family members and friends.

Christine was eagerly awaiting the arrival of her first grandchild, a little girl who will share her middle name as a tribute to her love and memory.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Chester, and father, Melvin.

The family would like to extend their deepest gratitude to the incredible oncology nurses and staff at UPMC Hillman Cancer Center in New Castle.

Their compassion, support and humor provided comfort to Chris throughout her and her husband's journey, and their kindness will not be forgotten.

Christine will be deeply missed but forever remembered for her ability to make anyone feel welcomed and the unwavering love she shared with those around her.
