New Wilmington, Pennsylvania - Carol Jean "Jeanne" Stafford Ligo passed away peacefully at Avalon Springs in Mercer on Sunday morning, May 25, 2025.

She was born on Nov. 8, 1934, in Sharon, to Thomas Joseph and Ruth Virginia Koerber Stafford.

Jeanne graduated from Sharon High School in 1952. She worked for the Bell Telephone Company, Daffin's Candies and Sharon Regional Hospital all in Sharon. She married James Lusk Ligo on Sept. 2, 1954. They shared 63 years of marriage together before Jim's passing on April 9, 2017.

Together they raised six children. Two sons John Ligo passed away in 2018 and Alan Ligo passed away in 2020. Jeanne was also preceded in death by brother, Thomas John Stafford.

Surviving children include Patti Ligo, Fredonia; Dean and Susan Ligo, New Wilmington, Jodi and Brian Kelly, Pulaski and Mark and Brooke Ligo, New Castle; 8 grandchildren, Joshua (Nicole), Adam (Jessica), Dr. Kyle Kelly, Hailey (Jason) Avery, Alexis (Eddie), Jessi Ligo, Shelby and Tucker Ligo; 5 great-grandchildren, Payton Ligo, Jack and Evie Ligo, Zaylee and Mateo Harper; and a sister, Dorothy "Do" Houlette.

Jeanne was a member and deacon for many years at The Neshannock

Presbyterian Church in New Wilmington. She was involved with the New Wilmington Ball Association and the Boy Scouts & Girl Scouts organizations while raising her family.

Always known as a wonderful cook and great listener, she will be missed by all who had the privilege of knowing her. The family wishes to acknowledge the exceptional care from her home at Avalon Springs Place in Mercer and Amedisys Hospice Care. Memorial contributions may be made to the White Chapel Cemetery, P.O. Box 45, Volant.
