Tucson, Arizona - Barbara A. (Gibson) Schrantz passed away peacefully at home in Tucson, Ariz., on May 18, 2024, at the age of 93.

She was born Aug. 15, 1930, in New Castle, Pa., the oldest child and only daughter of Arthur and Martha (Morris) Gibson.

She married Thomas F. Schrantz in 1952 and supported him in his military career that took them and their seven children to many states including South Dakota, Ohio, North Carolina and Michigan, before retiring from the service to Grove City, Pa. In Grove City, Barbara worked for 20 years at George Junior Republic.

Barbara is survived by her children Thomas, Pamela, Douglas (Jeanne), Gregory, Jeff (Tanya), and Timothy (Carol). She is also survived by her daughter-in-law Marilyn; nine grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.

Barbara was preceded in death by her parents; her husband of 64 years, Thomas; their son Mark; and her three brothers.

Barbara enjoyed playing Scrabble, the piano and celebrating holidays with her family.

Service: Noon Thursday in the funeral home. The Rev. Jordan Rimmer will officiate.

Burial: Crestview Memorial Park, Grove City.
