Andrew J. "A.J." Shaffer, 184 Mill St., Fredonia, passed away unexpectedly at 4:35 p.m. Friday (10-11-13) in Allegheny General Hospital, Pittsburgh. He was 25. He was born July 22, 1988, in Sharon, a son of James Edward Shaffer and Malinda M. "Lynne" (Swartz) Shaffer. "A.J." as he was known to his family and friends, was a 2006 graduate of Keystone Charter School, West Salem Township, and the Mercer County Career Center where he studied building trades. He was self-employed as a subcontractor working in the construction trades. He was an avid outdoorsman who always enjoyed the opportunity to fish and to hunt. Working on vehicles was a favorite pastime as well as listening to music. He attended the Sheakleyville Church of The Nazarene. His faithful companion was his dog "Tiago". A.J. is survived by his father, James Edward Shaffer of Sharpsville; his mother and stepfather, Lynne Shaffer-Roberts and her husband Daniel Roberts of Fredonia; a sister, Candy Greenfield and her husband David of Fairport, N.Y.; a brother Paul J. "P.J." Brakeman and his fiancée Carley Jones of Fredonia; maternal grandparents, Robert and Donna Fabian of Hadley; two nieces and a nephew as well as several aunts and uncles. He was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, John and Evelyn Shaffer; his maternal grandfather Carl L. Swartz; and his maternal great-grandmother, Elma Elizabeth Cotten. SHAFFER Andrew J.
