Alfred "Smitty" L. Schmidt Obituary
Alfred "Smitty" L. Schmidt, 96, of Masury, Ohio, passed away Thursday, March 28, 2024.
Alfred was born in Brookfield, Ohio, on May 12, 1927, a son to Alfred G. and Minnie I. (Pearson) Schmidt.
He was a 1945 graduate of Brookfield High School and served with the Navy during World War II.
He retired from Sawhill Tubular after dedicating 45 years to the company as a millwright.
Al was a member of Central Christian Church, Hubbard, Ohio; past-president of the Over the Hill Gang; Sawhill Retirees; VFW Post #3767, Hubbard; and a volunteer at the Buhl Club of Sharon.
Survivors include his children, Jeffrey L. Schmidt (Ginny), Vienna, Ohio, and Denise A. Brannon (Reed), Elk Mt., Wyoming; six grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandsons; three nieces and a nephew.
He was preceded in death in 2020 by his wife of 72 years, Shirley M. (Sherman) Schmidt; son, Russell A. Schmidt; and sisters, Katherine "Katie" McKelvey and Ruthea Gault.
