Wesley M. Guthrie, of Sharon, died Friday (June 30, 2017) at his residence after an extended illness. He was 79.
Wesley was born March 4, 1938, in Hornell, N.Y., the son of Chester J. Guthrie and Evelyn W. (Hollister) Guthrie.
He married Dixie Lee (Greenawalt) Guthrie on July 30, 1956, and she passed away April 8, 2008.
He graduated from Brookfield High School in 1956 and was employed at Sharon Steel as a millwright for 27 years, retiring in 1992. Wesley was a member of the Salvation Army in Sharon and enjoyed hunting and fishing.
Surviving are: his daughter, Mary M. Zec and her husband Rick of Farrell; sons, John W. Guthrie and his wife Sandra of Sharon and Ronald A. Guthrie and his wife Brenda of West Middlesex; five sisters; a brother; nine grandchildren; and 24 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by: his parents; his wife; a son, Scott Guthrie; granddaughter, Jennifer Sagenich; two brothers; and a sister.
