Staff Sgt. Alfred's Story
Staff Sgt. Alfred D. "Fred" Brazel, formerly of Greenville, passed away of natural causes on Monday, July 31, 2017, while serving on active duty at Fort Carson Army Base in Colorado Springs, Colo. He was 37.
He was born in Greenville on Dec. 29, 1979.
After his graduation from Greenville High School, he enlisted in the U.S. Army. He served two tours of duty in Iraq and also served in Korea. He took off some time from the military to attend and graduate from the Mercyhurst Police Training Academy. He returned to the military where he served in the Army National Guard and then went active duty.
He loved being a husband and father. He leaves behind his wife, Kaitlyn K. Brazel, and his two sons, Mason and Mylan Brazel, all at home. Also surviving are his father, William J. (Jacque) Brazel; two sisters, Tharesa Brazel and Tammy Hovey, all of Greenville; three brothers, Rick (Amanda) Hovey of Greenville, John (Marissa) Rimer of North Carolina and William J. (April) Brazel III, of Georgia.
He was preceded in death by Ruth Ann (Rimer) Brazel and paternal grandparents, Robert and Dorothy Brazel.

Service: Celebration of Life, 2-5 p.m. Sunday (8-27-17) at PA National Guard Armory, 740 N. Hermitage Road, Hermitage. Family requests casual dress.
Interment: Arlington National Cemetery.
