Richard C. Ferguson, 83, formerly of Sharpsville and Greenville, passed away Thursday afternoon (July 7, 2017) in Nugent's Continuing Care Retirement Community, Hermitage.
He was born in Sharpsville on May 27, 1934 to William C. and Kathryn S. (Cornell) Ferguson.
Richard was a 1952 graduate of Sharpsville High School and served his country in the Army, stationed in Japan.
He retired from Copperweld Steel in Warren, Ohio, where he worked as a welder and as a shipper for 33 years.
He was of the Protestant faith and he enjoyed attending car races, fishing, and watching his grandchildren and great-grandchildren's sporting events.
His first wife, the former Susan Hammercheck, preceded him in death in 1978. He then married the former Anna May Mealy on March 7, 1981; she survives in West Middlesex.
Also surviving are: two daughters, Leslie F. Ferguson of Sharon and Linda M. Ferguson of Sharpsville; a son, Robert C. Ferguson and his wife Lynn of Farrell; two step-daughters, Jody M. Swingle of Sharpsville and Linda S. Albaugh of Petrolia; a step-son, Vernon J. Ferguson and his wife Nabuko of Okinawa, Japan, 14 grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; and five great-great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by: his parents; his first wife; a brother, William Ferguson; and two step-children, Paula M. Ferguson and John R. Ferguson.

Service: 6 p.m. Monday (7-10-17) in the funeral home. Military honors will be rendered by Greenville VFW Post 3374.
