Mary's Story

Mary E. (nee Rodgers) Taylor of Leesburg Station Road, Volant, Springfield Township, died at Shenango Presbyterian Senior Care on Thursday afternoon (July 13, 2017). She was 81.
Mary was born in Wilmington Township, Mercer County, to the late Russell and Margaret Garrett Rodgers.
She married Gerald Clayton Taylor on April 22, 1961; he survives at their residence.
Mary was a graduate of Wilmington Area High School in 1954 and later worked at Depositor's National Bank.
She was an active member of the New Wilmington Christian Missionary Alliance Church and was president of the Women's Missionary Prayer Fellowship. Her church and her family were a big part of her life, and she enjoyed attending Christian Women meetings.
She had a great interest in coloring books for adults, square dancing and playing games with family and friends.
In addition to her husband, Gerald, survivors include: one daughter, Rhonda (James) Cameron; one son, Brian Taylor (Elaine), all of New Wilmington; two sisters: Jean Shannon (Harold) of New Wilmington and Sally Rodgers Held (Jim) of Pittsburgh; one brother, Allan Rodgers (Eileen) of New Wilmington; one sister-in-law, Brenda Rodgers of New Wilmington; five grandchildren, Alexandra (Joshua) Schroder of New Wilmington, Hunter and Mia Taylor, and Jessica and Kayla Cameron.
Mary was preceded in death by her parents and one brother, Wayne Rodgers.
The family would like to express their appreciation for the compassion and care given to Mary and her family by the Shenango Presbyterian Senior Care.
Memorials may be given in her name to the New Wilmington Missionary Alliance Church, New Castle Street, New Wilmington, PA 16142.

Calling hours: 4 to 8 p.m. Monday (7-17-17) at SMITH FUNERAL HOME, 310 W. Neshannock Ave., New Wilmington.
Service: Funeral at 11 a.m. Tuesday (7-18-17) at New Wilmington Presbyterian Church, with the Rev. John Grusendorf, pastor of the Alliance Church officiating.
Interment: White Chapel Cemetery, Wilmington Township, Mercer County.
