Marian's Story

Marian Joan (West) Burke of Sharon passed away peacefully Saturday afternoon, June 17, 2017, in UPMC Passavant Hospital, Pittsburgh. She was 75.
Mrs. Burke was born April 13, 1942, in Sharon, a daughter of Francis and Delores Burnett West. She was a lifelong area resident and a 1960 graduate of Hickory High School, Hermitage. Marian was employed by Packard Electric Corp. in Warren, Ohio, and also worked as a server at the former New Villa restaurant, Farrell. Although she was unable to work for nearly three decades, Marian devoted her life to taking care of the home and her family. It was during this time she also enrolled in the former Shenango Valley School of Business, Sharon, and was very proud to have earned several certificates in various disciplines of study.
Marian was a member of St. Joseph Church, Sharon, where she was a eucharistic minister.
Her husband, George Robert Burke III, whom she married July 24, 1960, passed away July 3, 2013.
Surviving are two sons, Bobby Burke and his wife, Monicia, and Christopher Burke and his wife, Carrisa, all of Houston, Texas; two sisters, Diane Martin and her husband, John, of Hermitage and Dorie Bottenfield and her husband, Earl, of Sharon; four grandchildren, Jennifer Burke and Hannah Roberts, Hunter Burke and Hadriane Burke; a great-grandson, Cameron Burke; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her husband, Marian was preceded in death by her parents.

Service: Mass of Christian Burial will be noon Friday in the church, with the Rev. Thomas Wittman, pastor, as celebrant.
