Kenneth A. Wright, Stoneboro, Sandy Lake Township, passed away unexpectedly of natural causes at 10:43 p.m. Tuesday (May 30, 2017) in the emergency room of Grove City Medical Center. He was 89.
Born Aug. 21, 1927, in Sandy Lake Township, he was a son of Emerson E. and Alice M. Patton Wright.
He attended both Sandy Lake and Stoneboro high schools.
He left school in 1945 and joined the Navy. He served as a corpsman during World War II and was honorably discharged in 1947.
Upon his return home he completed his schooling and began working at the New York Central Railroad for several years then went to work at Westinghouse in Sharon for more than 29 years with an early retirement in 1992. Then for 10 years he drove kindergarten school bus for the Lakeview School District, then worked at Adesa Auto Auction, Jackson Center, until his retirement.
Kenneth was a lifetime member of the Lakeview United Methodist Church where he sang in the choir. Also, many years ago he had played the trumpet in the Sandy Lake Firemen's Band.
He loved the outdoors and enjoyed hunting, fishing and doing a little farming.
He and his wife Ida loved going camping, spending many winters camping in Florida and were member of the Good Sam Camping Club, #1, which originated in Sandy Lake, for many years.
They enjoyed the Grand Old Opry and Renfro Valley, which were favorite spots to visit.
He was also very handy and loved tinkering in his garage and could fix most anything. He was very good at rebuilding engines to make them run like new.
Most of all, he was a loving husband, father and grandfather and will be greatly missed.
His wife, the former Ida Mae Rose Boylan, whom he married Sept. 28, 1951, survives at home.
Also surviving are: two daughters: Kathryn (Randy) Hoffman, Mercer, and Cynthia (Lonnie) Brown, Stoneboro; three sons, Thomas M. (Tamie) Wright, Sandy Lake, Steven E. (Debbie) Wright, Stoneboro, and William A. Wright, Slippery Rock; 22 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; a soon-to-be born great-grandson in August; and numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by: a granddaughter, Laurie Smith; a step-grandson, Shane Brown; two brothers, Richard and Harold "Hap" Wright; a sister-in-law, Donna Wright; and two nephews, Bruce and Rusty Wright.

Interment: Oak Hill Cemetery, Sandy Lake Township.
