Kay L.'s Story
Kay L. Shilling, 61, Sandy Lake, passed away at home of natural causes on Monday morning, July 10, 2017.
Born Oct. 30, 1955, in Grove City, she was a daughter of Lee H. and Marian L. Tanecnik Shilling.
Ms. Shilling was a 1973 graduate of Lakeview High School and attended Youngstown State University. She was also a graduate of the RHEMA Bible College of Oklahoma. She was of the protestant faith.
Kay worked several years at Polk Center as an RSA, then spent 10 years living in Alaska and while there worked in a sporting goods store. She loved the outdoors and enjoyed fishing, but was an avid hunter when she was healthy and was always hunting for that trophy buck; she was successful finding some nice ones over the years.
Kay was a member of the American Taekwondo Association in Sandy Lake and had earned her Red Belt.
She always had a love of dogs and always provided them treats, even long after she didn't have a dog of her own, and she was very fond of dogs "Jake" and "Baby".
Kay was a "fighter" when it came to her health, always pulling through her many medical setbacks and coming out on top. She was known for her kind heart and was always offering to help others when she was able.
She is survived by her siblings: Nancy L. (Richard) Floch, Hartstown, Pa; Richard L. (Lois) Shilling, Cat Spring, Texas, and Daniel L. (Ronda) Shilling, Sandy Lake.
Her parents preceded her in death.

A private memorial service will be held in the SCOTT A. BLACK FUNERAL HOME, 99 Franklin St., Stoneboro, with Rev. Virginia LaVan Gadsby, pastor, New Lebanon Community Church, officiating.
Interment: New Lebanon Cemetery, Mill Creek Township.
