George "Butch" Gomez, 75, of Shenango Township, died at 4:45 a.m. Sunday, Oct. 8, 2017, in Sharon Regional Health System after a brief illness.
He was born Sept. 1, 1942, in Youngstown, Ohio, a son of George Gomez and Hilda Schaner Roskos.
Butch served in the U.S. military was was employed by Mercer County Housing Authority as a maintenance foreman for 25 years. After retirement, he then worked for Reveill and Auto Zone, both of Sharon, as an auto parts delivery man.
He was an avid bowler and enjoyed golfing and working with his hands outside.
He is survived by his wife, Judy (Kagle) Gomez, whom he married March 17, 2001, at home; four daughters, Toni Book of Grove City, Kim Gomez of Sharon, Melinda Rowe and her husband, James, of Greenville, and Dawn Alexander and her husband, Mike, of Hermitage; a sister, Linda Benetto and her husband, Bob, of Sharon; and a brother, Ken Roskos and his wife, Sharon, of Eighty Four, Pa. He was a grandfather to Toby, Alexius, Taylor and Marisa and Papa to many and will be missed by all.
He is also survived by his dog, Bozo.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother Bob Roskos.
