Fumiko Hawley, Vista Center at The Ridge, formerly of West Middlesex, passed away at the residence of her son in Vienna, Ohio, on Monday, July 3, 2017, shortly before midnight. She was 85.
She was born in Miyako, Japan, on June 23, 1932, to Mr. and Mrs. Kin Nishizato.
She married Lavern Richard Hawley as he was serving in the U.S. Air Force, on March 6, 1958. He preceded her in death on Oct. 10, 2014.
Fumiko had worked as a laundress for The Sheraton Hotel, later known as The Radisson Hotel, in West Middlesex.
She attended Sharon Baptist Church for years before moving to become a member of New Life Baptist Church in New Wilmington.
She was well known for her gardening and beautiful flowers. She could make anything grow and was well known for her egg rolls and fried rice.
She was the ultimate server of people and her life revolved around her husband, her boys and her family.
Survivors include: her three sons, Richard R. Hawley (Barbara) of Graham, N.C.; Rick R. Hawley (Missy) of Louisville, Ohio; and James K. Hawley (Denise) of Vienna, Ohio; nine grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband and several brothers.

Service: Funeral at 7 p.m. Thursday in the funeral home with Pastor Warren Sullivan of New Life Baptist Church presiding.
