Donald E. "Dunner" Doyle, 87, of Stoneboro, passed away peacefully of natural causes on Thursday, Sept. 7, 2017.
Born June 28, 1930, in Stoneboro to Gust and Twila Mae Ransom Doyle. He was a 1948 graduate of Stoneboro High School.
Dunner retired in 1992 as truck maintenance supervisor of American Stone Mix, Fredonia.
He was of the protestant faith.
Dunner loved the outdoors and was an avid hunter and fisherman. He also loved animals and always had a special way with them. He enjoyed riding and training horses and used them for fox hunting and also owned and trained many fine bird dogs over the years. He also enjoyed working with "Doc" the elephant at Kid on the Hill Farm.
He spent a lot of time over the years following the sports at Lakeview High School, where he was a charter member of the Lakeview Admiral's Club and served as the club's first president.
Dunner was a good visitor and enjoyed socializing with friends.
His wife, the former Ruth J. Lewis, whom he married March 10, 1950, preceded him in death Oct. 27, 2000. He is survived by his children, Dottie (Scott) Quillen, Dennis (Machelle) Doyle and Gary (Linda) Doyle; eight grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren.
In addition to his wife and parents, a grandson, Eric Doyle; three sisters, Tressa Wilson, Dorothy Brumbaugh and Evelyn Thomas; a brother, William Doyle; and a half-brother, Lee Doyle, preceded him in death.
