Daniel's Story

Daniel J. Mascaro, 79, of Jackson Township, Ohio, went home to be with the Lord on Aug. 29, 2017. 
Dan was born in Wheatland on Sept. 10, 1937, to the late Peter and Julia Mascaro. 
He graduated from Farrell High School in 1956, where he excelled in football, basketball and track and Youngstown University in 1961, receiving a bachelor's degree in industrial engineering.
He served in the U.S. Army during Vietnam and worked for The Timken Co. for 32 years. While at Timken, he participated as an executive adviser for Junior Achievement. He also spent 10 years with North Jackson Baseball Association starting as coach and ultimately serving as president of the association. After retirement. he continued to share his talents teaching at Stark Tech and consulting at Marlite Inc. 
Dan was a member of St. Paul's Catholic Church, volunteering with bingo. He was also a member of the Jackson Lions Club, Knights of Columbus and Shady Hollow Country Club.
In his later years, he enjoyed golf, attending Notre Dame football games and spending time with his grandchildren. 
Dan was a devoted son, husband, father, grandfather and friend. He is survived by his loving wife of 56 years Joanne Mascaro (nee Kaliney), his junior and senior prom date; son, Daniel P. (Susie) Mascaro of Cleveland Heights; grandchildren, Will Mascaro and Maddie Mascaro; and brother-in-law, George (Nancy) Kaliney of Wheatland.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Walsh University Chapel Ministry, 2020 E. Maple St., North Canton, Ohio 44720 in his memory.

Service: Mass of Christian Burial at 11 a.m. Friday (9-1-17) at St. Paul's Catholic Church, 241 S. Main St., North Canton, with Father Thomas Cebula officiating. Everyone is to meet at the church.
Burial: North Canton Cemetery.
