William Edward Blake, 73, of Transfer, passed away on Wednesday, April 17, 2019, at UPMC Greenville Hospital.
William was born on June 9, 1945, to Howard Wilson and Ruth Ann (MacDonald) Blake in Warren, Ohio. He graduated from Reynolds High School, where he wrestled and played football.
He served in the U.S. Navy.
William worked as a computer steel grinder for Copperweld. On June 24, 1967, he married his wife, Shirley (Smith) Blake, who survives at home.
He was a member of Clark Trinity United Methodist Church, where he and his wife were active in church events. William was a member of Sharpsville Lodge 517, Free and Accepted Masons, and New Castle Consistory. He was also very active in the Transfer Volunteer Fire Department for more than 50 years, where he was past fire chief.
William served as a Pymatuning Township supervisor. He was an avid hunter and fisherman who enjoyed spending time at his camp in Benezette with family. He was also an avid Reynolds athletics fan, helping with the wrestling boosters and attending numerous sporting events. William was a lifelong Republican who stayed active in the Mercer County Republican Party.
William is survived by his loving wife Shirley; daughter, Michele Leanna (Chad) Tate of Camp Hill; granddaughter, Madison Tate; brother, Robert (Dorothy) Blake of Jamestown; and nieces, nephews and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his father, Howard Wilson Blake and mother, Ruth Ann Blake.

Service: Funeral will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday (4-23-19) in Clark Trinity United Methodist Church, with the Rev. William Locke officiating.
Friends are welcome to meet directly at church.
Burial: America's Cemetery, with full military honors.
