William "Bill"'s Story
William R. "Bill" Brocklebank, 83, of New Wilmington, was called home by God to direct His choir and play His organ on Sunday, Feb 25, 2018.
He was born in Olean, N.Y., on April 7, 1935, to the late Leon Ray and Lucille Jean Sonnekalb Brocklebank.
Bill and Alice Kingsley married on Dec 27, 1961 achieving 56 years together and were the parents of two children, Paul (Jerilyn) Brocklebank of Charlotte, N.C., and LuEllen Brocklebank (Lawrence Hellert) of Warren and New Wilmington, Pa. They are proud grandparents of two: Paul William Jr. and John Thomas. He also is survived by a sister, Mary L. Mitchell (William), Coudersport, Pa.
"Mr. B", as he was known by students, graduated from Coudersport High School, Mansfield University, and obtained his masters in Music Education from Penn State. He put his education to work as a choral music teacher for 31 years in State College, Bradford and Warren, Pa., retiring in 1988. Bill was one of 10 finalists in 1986 Teacher of the Year.
In 1951, he became a church organist at the Presbyterian Church in his hometown of Coudersport. Since then, he served Methodist, Lutheran, Episcopal and Presbyterian churches in State College, Bradford, Warren, New Wilmington and Sharon, all in Pennsylvania. In 1989, he became a Colleague of the American Guild of Organists (CAGO).
Bill also belonged to the Eulalia Blue Lodge 342 and was a 33rd degree Scottish Rite Mason, being a member of the Scottish Rite's Valley of Coudersport, where he was Consistory organist from 1957-2000 and director of music from 1983-2000. He founded the 100-voice Passion Play Choir, serving as its conductor for 33 years.
Bill's entire family would like to extend their gratitude to The Haven Convelescent Home of New Castle for the wonderful care and compassion the staff has shown throughout his remaining years. We can't "thank you" enough!
Memorials may be given to: Coudersport Consistory; The Parkinson's Disease Association Inc; or Christ Lutheran Church in Sharon, Pa.

There will be a private memorial service for the family; however the family will receive condolences at their New Wilmington residence.
