Walter (Wally)'s Story
Walter (Wally) J. Bock, 65, of New Smyrna Beach, Fla., died at his home on Wednesday, Jan. 10, 2018. Born in Hermitage on June 19, 1952, to John and Helen Bock, Wally traveled the country forming various business interests before finally settling in New Smyrna Beach in the early 1980s.
Wally owned and operated a security monitoring business and a bed and breakfast (with his wife Karlann) while residing in New Smyrna Beach.
He was a member of the Smyrna Yacht Club, New Smyrna Beach Chamber, the Shriners, and he also performed at the Little Theater of New Smyrna Beach.
As a youth, Wally enjoyed playing football, basketball, baseball and competing as a pole vaulter with the Hickory High Hornets.
Wally loved to travel, meet people, and lived life to its fullest. He touched people's lives wherever he went and will be missed by all who knew and loved him.
Survivors include his wife of 20 years, Karlann; two brothers, Josef Bock and his wife, Elizabeth, of Huntington Valley and Stephan "George" Bock and his wife, Susan, of Brandon, Fla.; two stepsons, Raymond Dorso and his wife, Kathleen, of Bayville, N.J..; and Christopher Pakula and his wife, Erika, of St. Cloud, Fla.; nieces and nephews, Sara Bock Sanchez and Keven Bock of Tampa, Fla., William, Joey, Amy and Alex Bock of Philadelphia; step-grandchildren, Brianna and Shayne Dorso; great-nephews and nieces, Clark, Patrick and Andrew Sanchez and Vivian Bock.
Wally was preceded in death by his mother and father.
A Celebration of Life will be held at 4 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 20, 2018, at Settle-Wilder Funeral Home in New Smyrna Beach. The Redemption Fathers, Sacred Heart Catholic Church will be officiating.
