Thomas's Story

Thomas E. Reed of Grove City died at home on Friday (Aug. 18, 2017) from advanced stage dementia following a stroke in 2009. He was 78.
Tom was born in Grove City on Aug. 11, 1939, to James and Nell (Bone) Reed. He married Elaine M. Badger on June 19, 1984.
He retired from the George Junior Republic after serving for 34 years as a cottage uncle and nightman.
Tom was an avid sportsman, including golf, bowling, table tennis, pool, boating, hunting, and fishing. He enjoyed woodworking and gardening.
Tom was a past commander of the American Legion Post 584.
He is survived by: his wife, Elaine, at home; a daughter, Tammy Elaine Guyette and husband Joseph; six stepchildren, April Anthony, Benjamin Wilson, Libby, Jody and Debbie and James Watson; six grandchildren; one great-grandson; and a sister Judith Rauso.
His parents and two brothers, Robert and James, preceded Tom in death.
Memorials may be made to the charity of the donor's choice.

Service: Celebration of life for family and friends at 2 p.m. Saturday (10-7-17) in the American Legion Post 584, 1975 Leesburg-Grove City Road, Mercer, with the Rev. Karen Heasley of The Spiritual Path Church of New Castle officiating.
