Thomas W. Himes of Grove City passed away on Friday, Aug. 18, 2017, in Sentara Princess Ann Hospital, Virginia Beach, Va., following a two-month illness. He was 63.
Tom was born in Grove City on Nov. 11, 1953, to Wade E. and Sarah "Marie" (Boozell) Himes. He married Ruth Travis over 30 years ago; she survives at home.
Tom was a 1972 graduate of Grove City High School. He served in the U.S. Army. Tom was a machinist who retired from General Electric and previously was employed by Cooper Bessemer, .
He enjoyed racing cars and going to the drag strip and car shows.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by his mother, Marie Himes, Grove City; four children, Tina McFeaters and Deborah Russell, both Grove City, Brenda Rusnak, Clarks Mills, and John Russell and wife Sandy, New Castle; a sister, Marilyn Middendorf and husband Richard, Jamestown; five grandchildren; and four great grandchildren.
His father and two infant sisters, Peggy Marie and Martha J. Himes, preceded him in death.
