A Mass of Christian burial will be Wednesday (1-2-08) for Theodore R. Specht, 499 Boyd Drive, Sharon. He passed away of natural causes at 9:30 a.m. Saturday (12-29-07) in the hospital of Sharon Regional Health System following a brief illness. He was 89. Mr. Specht was born July 8, 1918, in Felton, Minn., a son of the late Albert and Agatha Murphy Specht. He moved to the area in 1941 after graduating from the University of Minnesota, where he earned a bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering. He received his master’s degree in electrical engineering in 1951 from the University of Pittsburgh. Mr. Specht retired in 1982 from the former Sharon Transformer Division of Westinghouse Electric Corp., where he was an electrical engineer for 41 years. He had 27 U.S. patents issued in his name and authored or co-authored numerous technical publications. In 1973, he was conferred the grade of fellow in the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers Inc. Mr. Specht did consulting work for a number of years after he retired from the Westinghouse. He was a charter member of the Church of Notre Dame, Hermitage. He was also a member of Westinghouse Retirees Association, American Association of Retired Persons and a former member of Sharon Regional Health System Auxiliary Lifeline Program. Surviving are: his wife at home, the former Dorothy Deissler, whom he married June 28, 1947, they celebrated their 60th anniversary this past June; three sons, Gerald Specht and his wife, Roxann, Evanston, Ill.; James Specht and his wife, Elizabeth, Houston, Texas; and Lawrence Specht and his wife Karen, Wilmington, Del.; one daughter, Rosemary Koch and her husband Gary, Lordstown, Ohio; nine grandchildren, Andrew, Mark, Elizabeth, Amanda, David, Jenna and Crystal Specht; and Katherine and Sean Koch; and several nieces and nephews. Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his son, Robert; two brothers, James and Walter; and a sister Elsie.
