Shirley Irene Dunbar Seidel, 91, of Mercer passed away at 8:37 a.m. Sunday, Nov. 12, 2017, at Avalon Springs Nursing Center after an extended illness.
She was born in Pittsburgh on Dec. 7, 1925, to Arthur LeRoy and Mildred Shuler Dunbar.
Shirley was a 1943 graduate of Langley High School. She married David Paul Seidel Sr. on Jan. 10, 1947.
Shirley worked as a bookkeeper for Bell Telephone, Keystone Motor Parts and Seidle Sand and Gravel and as a teller for Northwest Bank. She and her husband owned and operated Mercer Bowling Center and Cochranton Lanes.
Shirley was honored as a 50-year member of Bethany Presbyterian Church, which she joined in 1945. She was a member of Eastern Star, a Square dance group, Red Hat Society, many bowling leagues, and Brandy Springers. She enjoyed music, quilting, reading, and bowling.
Shirley is survived by three children: Keith Seidel and his wife Becky in Cochranton, Pa.; Wendy Hodge, Mercer; and David Seidel Jr. and his wife Anita Mercer; three grandchildren: Tammi Conway Best, Stephenie Gregory and Bradley Seidel; and eight great-grandchildren.
She is preceded in death by her parents; husband; a sister, Mary Morris; and a brother, Robert Dunbar.

Funeral: 4 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home with Dr. Peter Dembroski of Bethany Presbyterian Church officiating.
Burial: Mt. Washington Cemetery, Jefferson Township.
