Sarah's Story

Sarah Adaline Fitzgerald, 90, a lifelong resident of Mercer, passed away at 9:30 a.m. Saturday (Aug. 05, 2017.
She was born on May 7, 1927 in Pittsburgh, to James and Florence Moore Beggs.
Adaline was married for 38 years to G. Ray Courtney; he preceded her in death in 1998. She married Paul Fitzgerald in 1984, and he died in 2002.
Mrs. Fitzgerald was an operator for Bell Telephone, former secretary for Mercer Area Chamber of Commerce, member of Pleasant Valley Grange, member of Red Hat Society and member of Trinity Presbyterian Church in Mercer.
She was a volunteer for Meals on Wheels as well as the Red Cross Blood Drive.
Adaline was very active with her son Mark's running business.
Adaline is survived by: three children, Mark Courtney and his wife Debbie of Grove City, Bruce Courtney and his wife Holly of Mercer, and Carol Courtney of Erie; three grandchildren, Nathan, Brian and Kaitlyn Courtney; and two great-grandchildren, Dylan and Leah Courtney.

Calling hours: 4 to 7 p.m. Tuesday (8-8-17) and 10 to 11 a.m. Wednesday (8-9-17) at CUNNINGHAM FUNERAL HOME, INC., 144 S. Pitt Street, Mercer.
Funeral: 11 a.m. Wednesday (8-9-17) at the funeral home with Dr. William P. Crooks of Trinity Presbyterian Church officiating.
Burial: Findley Cemetery, Findley Township.
