Roxanne Marie Shaw

Roxanne Marie Shaw Roxanne Marie "Rocky" (Springer) Shaw, 52, of Transfer, passed away surrounded by her family on Thursday morning, Feb. 28, 2019, in her home, following an extended illness.
She was born Jan. 14, 1967, in Uniontown, a daughter of James and Erla (Clark) Springer. She was a 1985 graduate of Hickory High School.
A hard worker, Rocky began working at age 15. She owned and operated a thriving dog grooming business, Shaw's Dog Grooming, for 25 years. Rocky graduated as an X-ray technician and began employment at UPMC Horizon, Farrell and Greenville; as well as UPMC Urgent Care and Dr. Collins, both in Hermitage. She loved being what she called a "vampire" during her time as a phlebotomist. She also enjoyed her seasonal position at Lowe's in Hermitage.
In her spare time, Rocky liked playing the organ, baking cookies and cakes, swimming in the pool and spending hours on the phone with her mother and daughter. She also loved spending quality time with her grandchildren, having family cookouts, and being with her cats.
Her childhood dream was to own a standard poodle, which became a reality four years ago when she became the proud parent of Sadie. She enjoyed walking Sadie and doting about her.
Rocky was a member of the Living Faith Christian Church, Farrell, where she loved and enjoyed the pastors.
She was an advocate of healthy eating and living. Rocky educated people on healthy living and environmental hazards, and was especially interested in apitherapy.
She leaves behind her loving husband of 33 years, Richard Curtis Shaw, whom she married Jan. 18, 1986; her devoted mother, Erla J. Springer, of Hermitage; her in-laws, Calvin and Nora Shaw, of Brooksdale, Fla.; two children, Curtis Richard Shaw, of Gunnison, Colo.; and Christina M. (Shaw) Root and her husband Aaron, of Transfer; a brother, James E. Springer, Jr. and his wife Kimberly, of Mercer; four grandchildren, Calvin, Clint, Austin, and Jessie Root, all of Transfer; her beloved fur baby, Sadie; and many extended family members.
She was preceded in death by her father, James E. Springer Sr.; her grandparents, Earl and Jessie Clark, Roy Springer, and Carolyn Springer-O'Neill; and two uncles, Darryl Clark and Donald Springer.
The family suggests memorial contributions be brought to the celebration of life ceremony, made out to the: Humane Society of Summit County.

We got to spend our lunches together when we worked at FNB since our parents lived on the same road. I would drive one day and she would drive the next. She was a good friend. So sorry for your loss and she was too young to lose someone.
