Ronald's Story

Ronald Lee Elford Sr., 67, of Grove City, passed away at UPMC in Pittsburgh on Friday, Dec. 1, 2017, after a courageous battle following a double-lung transplant.
Born Nov. 11, 1950, in Grove City, he was the son of Carmen Dallas and Mary Ellen Furey Elford of Mercer.
He was employed with Ziegler Tire, Youngstown, and Merchant's Tire of Charlottesville, Va. He began his lengthy tire career under his father-in-law, Donald J. Wilson Sr., at the young age of 21 at Mercer Tire Co.
He enjoyed his life as a family man.
He loved golfing and was an avid sports fan and a dedicated businessman.
He was a long-time member of the Church of the Beloved Disciple, Grove City.
He is survived by: his wife of 46 years, the former Vicki Lynn Wilson; son, Ronald Lee Elford, Jr.; grandson, Cody Ryan Elford; brother, Dennis (Karen) Elford, Mercer; sister, Patti Hemphill, Tarentum, Pa.; brother, Brian Elford (Janet Urbanick), Deltona, Fla.; sister, Vicki (Bob) Gerstner, Butler; brother, Timothy Elford (Judy Denning) Mercer; brothers-in-law, Bill Collins (Julie Bair), Sandy Lake, and Gregory Wilson, Mercer; and sisters-in-law, Mary Ann Wilson, Myrtle Beach, S.C.; and Karen Wilson, Jacksonville, Fla.
Ron was preceded in death by: his parents; sister, Deborah Collins; and two brothers-in-law, Donald Wilson, Jr. and Douglas Wilson.
A special acknowledgement of appreciation to Heidi McClelland, Debbie White Troy, Bill Collins, Bob McKay, Rob and Laurie Waugaman and Brad and Misty Koscinski for their caring love and support.
Memorial contributions may be given to the Church of Beloved Disciple.

Calling hours: 10 to 11:45 a.m. Saturday (12-9-17) at the Church of the Beloved Disciple, 1310 S. Center St. Ext., Grove City.
Service: Mass at noon Saturday at the church with Father Michael Allison presiding.
Burial: Private family interment on Monday (12-11-17) at America's Cemetery, Hermitage.
