Robert William "Bill" Moors, 91, of Volant, Springfield Township, passed away Sunday, Feb. 25, 2018, at Countryside Convalescent Home in Mercer.
Bill was born on Feb. 13, 1927, in the very house that he resided in all of his life with the exception of when he was away briefly serving honorably with the U.S. Army of Occupation in Italy during the concluding phases of World War II.
Bill was the son of Albert and Mary Hancock Moors, and he graduated from Mercer High School in 1945. He married Marian Pattison in June of 1949 and worked at Westinghouse Electric in Sharon for 30 years. After his retirement, he worked at the Interstate Auto Auction in Mercer.
Bill was an avid hunter, trapper and skeet shooter and was a founding member of the Springfield Sportsman's Club. He was of the Presbyterian faith, and was a lifetime member of the Stanley Snyder VFW Post in Springfield Township. He enjoyed gardening, wood working and motor cycling.
Survivors include his wife Marian, at home; two sons, James R. and wife Diane Moors, of Holt, Mo.; Robert G. and wife Debra Moors of Volant; daughter, Lois J. Bestwick, of Mercer; two grandchildren, Allison J. and Brenton L., Bestwick; and two great-grandchildren, Cameron and Claire.
In addition to his parents was preceded in death by four sisters, Joyce Burdette; Betty Lewis; Madge Whited; and Isobel Anderson.
