Robert L. Banas
Mr. Banas was born Oct. 30, 1946, in Sharon, a son of the late Michael and Catherine (Kubyako) Banas. A lifelong area resident, he attended Sharpsville High School and served in the U.S. Air Force during the Vietnam War.
Bob retired from the former Sharon Chrysler Plymouth and previously worked at Valley Mold in Masury, Ohio, and the former Sharon Transformer Division of Westinghouse Electric Corp. He was a member of St. John's Orthodox Church, Hermitage.
His wife of 46 years, the former Judith "Judi" P. Sobey, whom he married Aug. 5, 1972, passed away Dec. 9, 2018.
He is survived by two sons, Timothy R. Banas, of Transfer; and Jeffrey J. Banas and his wife Rena Donatelli and their newborn baby, Gianna Sophia Banas, all of Raleigh, N.C.; a sister, Carol Maykowski and her husband Robert, of Sharpsville; three brothers, twin Ronald L. Banas and his wife Lois, of Hermitage; and Michael J. Banas and Steve A. Banas, both of Sharpsville; and a brother-in-law, James Sobey, of Sharon.

Calling hours: 4 to 7 p.m. Wednesday (4-24-19) in J. BRADLEY McGONIGLE FUNERAL HOME AND CREMATORY Inc., 1090 E. State St., Sharon.
Funeral service: 12 p.m. Thursday (4-25-19) in St. John's Orthodox Church, Hermitage, with Rev. David Mastroberte, pastor, officiating.
Interment: St. John's Cemetery, Hermitage.
