Robert V. Artman, 70, of Grove City passed away Sunday evening, Jan. 14, 2108, in VNA Inpatient Hospice, Butler, after an illness since April 2017.
Robert was born in New Castle on March 10, 1947, to Gerald Hover and Genevieve Alice (Grundy) Artman.
He was raised in the Presbyterian faith and married Jennifer K. Ryder on June 6, 1969.
He was a 1965 graduate of New Wilmington High School. In 1967 Robert enlisted in the Navy and served his country as a career submarine sailor, retiring in 1987.
Following his retirement he was employed as a submarine contractor with General Dynamics in Groton, Conn.
Robert is survived by: his wife, Jennifer at home; four children, Tammilyn (Michael) Kayer, Sandy Lake, Robert E. Artman, Grove City, Jacqueline (Frank) Filippone, Hermitage, and Louis J. Hebert, Grove City; five grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; five sisters, Floy Moreira, New Wilmington, Helen (William) Lents, Mesa, Ariz., Marilyn Artman, Baton Rouge, La., Jessica Gail (Donald) Hubbard, and Lois C. Heavilin, Boardman, Ohio.
He was preceded in death by: his parents; a grandson, Brian William Christopher Geiger; a sister, Aurel Jeane May; and a brother, Donald Artman.
