Raymond F. Zickar
Son of the late Louis and Anna (Zager) Zickar, Raymond was born July 21, 1927, in Farrell. He was a lifelong Shenango Valley resident and a 1945
graduate of Farrell High School. He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II as part of the Joint Task Force 1 Atomic Bomb Testing at Bikini Atoll.
Following his honorable discharge, Raymond enrolled at Thiel College, Greenville, and graduated with a bachelor's degree in finance.
He was first employed as an office manager at Universal C.I.T., Sharon. Later, Raymond worked in banking, culminating as vice president of the Loan Department for First National Bank of Greenville. He retired in 1989.
Raymond was a founding member of the Church of Notre Dame, Hermitage, and played an integral part in the fundraising campaign from its inception.
He was also a member of the Lion's Club, Greenville; the American Legion, Post 299, and lifelong member of the Slovenian Home, both Sharon; and Hickory VFW Post 6166, Hermitage.
Raymond devoted more than 30 years to the Hermitage Little League, beginning as a coach and serving on its board of directors at both the local and regional level (division two) for many years. He was an avid Notre Dame Football fan and traveled to many games over the years with his friends. He also enjoyed golfing. Above all else, he loved playing the role of "Papa" to his six grandchildren and great-grandson.
He is survived by his wife, the former Kathryn Frank, whom he married June
23, 1956; two daughters, Lynne Ann (Jim) Mayercak, Zanesville, Ohio, and Carol Ann (Ed) Gallagher, Hermitage; a son, Marc A. (DeeDee) Zickar, Mercer; six grandchildren, Kelly Ann (Jeremy) Ignaszewski; Hannah, Hayley and Hayden Gallagher, Lauren Zickar, Jordan Fisher; and one great-grandson, Noah James Ignaszewski.
In addition to his parents, Raymond was preceded in death by three brothers, Louis, Frank and Robert Zickar.

Service: Mass of Christian Burial will be 11:30 a.m. Tuesday (2-5-19) in the Church of Notre Dame, 2325 Highland Road, Hermitage, with Fr. Mark Hoffman, associate pastor, as celebrant.
Interment: St. Mary Cemetery, Hermitage. Military honors will be rendered by Sharon American Legion Post 299 honor guard.
