Rachel D. Vatavuk of Sharon passed away at 7:39 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 27, 2017, in Mercy Health, St. Elizabeth Hospital, Youngstown. She was 24.
Rachel was born Dec. 29, 1992, in Sharon, a daughter of Richard L. and Jeanne (Dittmer) Vatavuk.
She was a 2011 graduate of West Middlesex High School, where she was a member of the softball and volleyball teams, and later attended Youngstown State University.
Rachel was of the Methodist faith.
She was a proud member of the West Middlesex Volunteer Fire Dept., Station 74.
She is survived by her parents, Richard and Jeanne Vatavuk of Sharon; three brothers, Jacob Vatavuk of South Pymatuning, Robert (Tammy) Knapp of Groton, Conn., and Scott Knapp of Hermitage; maternal grandparents, Donna Montgomery and William Dittmer; and longtime boyfriend, Adam Garrett.
Rachel was preceded in death by an infant sister, Donna; and her paternal grandparents, Louis and Louise Vatavuk.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made directly to the family.
