Rachel G. VanHoose of Sharpsville passed away peacefully at 12:14 p.m. Wednesday (Aug. 23, 2017) following an extended illness. She was 70.
Rachel was born Jan. 2, 1947, in Sharon, a daughter of John and Theresa Guerino Pepe.
She was a 1964 graduate of Farrell High School and a long-time member of St. Stanislaus Church, Sharon.
Rachel loved animals, particularly watching the hummingbirds at the feeders in her backyard and spending time with her cat, Mia. She was an avid Pittsburgh Steelers fan and enjoyed the many parties with her cousins. She also enjoyed camping and gardening.
Surviving are: a daughter, Jamie L. Vanhoose Flores, Sharon; a son, William D. Vanhoose, Brookfield; a sister, Lou Ann Nelson and her husband Michael, Hermitage; a grandson, Anthony J. Ciccone and his fiance Alana; a granddaughter, Courtney VanHoose; a niece, Samantha Nelson and her fiance Cory; a nephew, Shawn Nelson and his wife Nichole; two great-nephews and three great-nieces; and a son-in-law, Joseph P. Ciccone. She also leaves a special friend, Diane Allie, and a dear cousin, Dina Robinson, who lovingly cared for her during her illness.
She was preceded in death by her parents.

Services: Memorial Mass of Christian burial at 1 p.m. Monday (8-28-17) in Our Lady of Fatima Church, 601 Roemer Blvd., Farrell, with Rev. Matthew Ruyechan, pastor, as celebrant.
Interment: St. Anthony's Cemetery, Hermitage.
