As a young girl she was an active member of the First Presbyterian Church. Currently she was an active member of the Sugarloaf Christian Ministry in Carrabassett Valley.
She enjoyed swimming at Buhl Farm Park as a young girl and later became a swimming instructor and lifeguard. As her life grew, she loved alpine skiing, cycling, hiking, yoga, Pilates, golf, sailing and was a lover of reading books. Most recently she logged having read 138 books. She started every day with a crossword puzzle and Sudoku.
In 1989 she was a student at the Outward Bound School at Hurricane Island, Maine, and lived by its motto, "To serve, to strive and not to yield". One of her noticeable characteristics was her love for food which "she lived to eat," always having room for dessert, but always staying in perfect physical condition. She connected with others in a very loving way and everyone loved her.
She is survived by her husband Jim; daughter Susan Denny Alkire of Jensen Beach, Fla., and her husband Joe and son Christopher Denny of Jackson Hole, Wyoming. She had deep and everlasting love for her five grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
