Plauda L. Minner, 92, of New Wilmington, passed away Wednesday morning (Jan 24, 2018) at St. John Specialty Care in Mars, Pa.
Plauda was born March 17, 1925, and was the sixth of seven children of Thomas and Sarah Patton. Her sisters and brothers all preceded her in death: Mary Eleanor, Dorothy, Tom, Marjorie, Glenna, and Jean.
Plauda grew up in a variety of settings, finishing in Shenango Township as a lifelong member of Lebanon Presbyterian Church, where her father was the pastor from 1936-1948.
Plauda graduated from Ohio University with a teaching degree.
She was an extraordinarily productive and loving wife, mother and homemaker, this as she also brushed off and doctored all the scrapes and burns of childhood, wiped away the tears and pushed us to excel.
She was dynamic and loving, with a great sense of humor, guided always by her faith in God. Dedicated to her family, she was our moral compass, teaching us right from wrong and greatly shaping who we are today.
Her husband, Donald L. Minner, passed away in 1999.
Plauda is survived by: her four children, Jean Buchanan of Mercer, Richard Minner of Annapolis, Md., Donald K. Minner of Manassas, Va., and Shirley Jones of Evans City, Pa. Plauda has nine grandchildren and six great-grandchildren (with another arriving soon), too numerous to name, but all greatly loved by our family matriarch...."Grandma."
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Lebanon Presbyterian Church.
