Peter's Story

Peter Joyce Dever, 88, of Chippewa Township, Beaver County, formerly of Sharpsville, passed away Friday Jan. 19, 2018, surrounded by his family at Heritage Valley in Beaver.
Born Jan. 29, 1929, in Sharpsville, he was the son of the late John and Mary (Joyce) Dever.
Peter graduated from Sharpsville High School in 1947 and was a member of their 1946 undefeated District 10 championship football team.
He was a U.S. Army veteran, serving in the Signal Corps during the Korean War, based in Fort Monmouth, N.J.
He retired from Bell Atlantic as a supervisor in 1989 after 42 years of service, and belonged to the Bell Telephone Pioneers.
He was a faithful member of St. Monica Catholic Church.
He is survived by his loving wife of 63 years, Dolores Swogger Dever; two daughters Theresa (James) McCann, of Alliance, Ohio, and Jean (James) Liberto, of Oakmont; four sons, William Dever, of Beaver, David (Kay) Dever, of Phoenix, Mark (Rebecca) Dever, of Beaver, and Richard (Linda) Dever, of Ohio Township; nine grandchildren, Steven (Gini) McCann, Robert (Elizabeth) McCann, Jeffrey McCann, Travis Kost, Heather Dever, Kevin (Megan) Dever, Brett Liberto, Kathleen Liberto and Marissa Dever; two brothers, Edward (Julie) Dever and Patrick Dever both of Sharpsville; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by two brothers, John and Thomas Dever.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to St. Monica Church building fund, 116 Thorndale Drive, Beaver Falls, PA 15010.

Funeral service: Prayers will be offered at 9:30 a.m. Tuesday (1-23-18) and followed by a mass at 10 a.m. at St. Monica, 116 Thorndale Drive, Beaver Falls, with Father Kim Schreck officating
interment: Private, at a later date in St. Mary's Cemetery, Sharpsville.
