Pastor Jason R McIlwain

Pastor Jason R. McIlwain, 39, of Volant, went home to be with his Lord after a long battle with cancer Sunday afternoon, Sept. 4, 2016, at his residence, surrounded by his loving family and friends.
Born July 1, 1977 in Greenville, he was the son of Terry L. and Charlotte Miller McIlwain of Volant.
After graduating from Grove City High School in 1996 he attended Pittsburgh Technical Institute, where he graduated in 1998. He used his degree to be a self-employed graphic designer.
Jason later took classes at Liberty University where he received his Bachelor of Science degree in Pastoral/Religion on Sept. 2, 2016.
He was employed as a sales service representative with Liberty Mutual Insurance Company.
Among his many interests, Jason enjoyed hunting, fishing, golf and the Pittsburgh sports teams, but he cherished most the times he spent with his sons Josiah and Jeremiah.
Jason was known to everyone who knew him as being a faithful follower of the Lord. His passion was sharing the Lord with others, even while facing many difficulties. He was an active member of New Life Baptist Church in New Wilmington where he loved his supportive church family and enjoyed attending Bible study.
In addition to his parents, he is survived by: two sons, Josiah McIlwain and Jeremiah McIlwain of Volant; one brother, Jeffery (Bobbie) McIlwain of Volant; his twin sister, Michelle (James) Cooper of Volant; two nieces, Emily Grace McIlwain and Ava Marie McIlwain; and two nephews, James Cooper and Joel Cooper.
He was preceded in death by both his maternal and paternal grandparents, and an aunt, Grace Wright.
The family wishes to establish a trust fund for Jason's sons, therefore, memorial contributions may be made to First National Bank, and mailed to the bank at 3200 Wilmington Road, New Castle, PA 16105, to the attention of Margaret.
