Nellie E. Carlson, 95, formerly of the Mercer area, passed away at Countryside, East Lackawannock Township, at 11:40 a.m. Friday (Dec. 29, 2017).
She was born in Mercer Nov. 27, 1922, to Clinton and Sara A. Moreford Barr.
Nellie married C. Walter Carlson on Feb. 7, 1939.
Mrs. Carlson worked at Polk for five years. She attended Balm United Methodist Church.
She is survived by: six children: Donna "Cookie," wife of Thomas A. Peters, Mercer, Linda, wife of James O'Rourke, Florida., Judith, wife of Ivan Teets, Greenville, Carl W. Carlson and his wife Edith, Greenville, Rev. Richard N. Carlson and his wife Linda, Hermitage, and Robert E. Carlson and his wife Cheryl, Jackson Center; 18 grandchildren; 47 great-grandchildren; and 19 great-great-grandchildren.
Nellie was preceded in death by: her parents; husband; daughter, Sandy Kostas; an infant son; four brothers, Robert Barr, Clifford "Tip" Barr, George P. Barr, Sr., and Ted Barr; seven sisters, Frances Fitzpatrick, Dorothy M. Thompson, Carrie Hosack, Betty Fitzpatrick, Sara Lary, Anna Lewis, and Margory Mosley.

Funeral: 11 a.m. Tuesday in the funeral home with Rev. Richard N. Carlson, Nellie's son, officiating. Burial: America's Cemetery, Hermitage.
