Minnie Jane Stevenson

Minnie Jane Stevenson Minnie Jane Stevenson, 81, of Mercer, passed away at about 9:30 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 29, 2018, at her residence.
She was born May 17, 1937, to George Batley Sr. and Helen Swartz Batley.
Minnie attended Grove City Area Schools and worked for over 20 years in the Mercer Area School District custodial department.
She enjoyed spending time with her family, especially with her grandchildren. She experienced great joy playing bingo with her sister, Gloria "Snook" Burk, and other friends and family.
She is survived by two sons, James E. "Bo" (Sherry) Stevenson of Grove City and Lee A. Stevenson of Mercer; a woman who was like a daughter to her, Paula L. "Muff" Mortland of Mercer; a brother, Paul Batley of Wheatland; 10 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-granddaughter.
In addition to her parents, Minnie was preceded in death by her husband, James Eric Stevenson; three daughters, Shirley L. Clark, Mary Jane Stevenson and Margaret I. "Peggy" Williams; a grandson, Michael Lee Stevenson; four sisters, Ethel Fabrey, Peg McConnell, Helen Simmons and Gloria Burk; two brothers, George Batley Jr. and Dick Batley; and numerous stepbrothers and stepsisters.

Calling hours: Wednesday (1-2-19) from 4 to 7 p.m. at SMITH FUNERAL HOME, the village of Leesburg, 1778 Perry Highway, Volant.
Funeral: 7 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home with Rod Burk officiating.
Burial: Findley Cemetery, Mercer.

We did not know Mrs. Stevenson but heard many good things about her. We live in Indiana and are friends with Logan. Please accept our condolences. May God bless your family as you grieve and may Mrs. Stevenson rest in peace.

I worked with Minnie at the elementary school during the summer when I was a teenager. I will always miss and love her. She was the best! I'm so sorry for your loss and she will be greatly missed.
