Mildred Ann Fitzgerald Edell

Mildred Ann Fitzgerald Edell, 94, of Louisville, Ohio, formerly of Highland Road, Hermitage, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, Jan. 23, 2019, in her home, surrounded by her family.
Mildred was born Sept. 12, 1924, in Sharon, a daughter of the late James and Josephine (Jones) Fitzgerald. She attended Sharon High School and was a member of the Church of Notre Dame, Hermitage. Mildred married George Edell in 1945 and was married for 69 years. In her younger years, Mildred was an expert seamstress, enjoyed roller skating, dancing, and became quite the golfer when her husband retired, taking many golf trips with family.
During World War II, she was employed at Sharon Steel and also worked for 20 years as a distribution contractor for the Sharon Herald.
Mildred was a selfless, caring and loving mother, loved card games, baking, gardening and spending time with her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
She looked forward to family trips to Las Vegas, Lake Tahoe, the Bahamas and especially, Hawaii. A recent trip to Hilton Head united all of her 38-member clan and brought her much joy. Mildred was an avid fan of the Mount Union men's basketball team.
Mildred was the matriarch of her family, which included four children, Linda Fuline (Dan), George Edell (Susan), Debbie Sturm and Patty Davis (Jim); nine grandchildren, Daniel J. Fuline, Jr. (Luci), Michael Fuline (Amy), Tyson Edell (Carrie), Joseph Edell (Tricia), Christine Edell, Adam Sturm (Kristen), Richard Davis, James Davis and Jaclyn Davis; and 16 great-grandchildren, Marissa, Rylie, Isabella, Giovanni, Giavona, Anthony, Lucia, Angelina, Michel, Dylan, Madelyn, Olivia, Marshall, Jackson, Logan and Miles.
Mildred was also preceded in death by her husband, George, in 2015; two sisters, Elizabeth Gorzo and Dorothy Trump; and three brothers, Vincent, James and Donald Fitzgerald; and her beloved grandson Nathan Vaughn Sturm.
Mildred's family would like to extend a special thank you to Sharon, Heather and Karen; and, to the outstanding care and compassion of the staff from Crossroads Hospice and Palliative Care.
Mom, a life so beautifully lived, a heart so deeply loved, words cannot express our sorrow in losing you, but we know that you are in a better place now with Dad. Rest in peace.
