Michael's Story

Michael A. Kirk peacefully passed from this life into eternity on Feb. 26, 2017. in Las Vegas, Nev. He was 44.
Michael was born to Deborah E. Kirk on Feb. 25, 1973, in Sharon General Hospital. He was a 1991 graduate of Brookfield High School and a 2001 graduate of the National Statler Center for Careers in Hospitality Services.
Despite being born visually impaired, he didn't let that limit him and he saw the world in his own view. Michael, who was affectionately known by family and friends as Mikey, was an accomplished writer who produced a music newspaper called Mind Riot, although his biggest accomplishment was his children.
He was a deep thinker with a sharp mind, who had an eclectic taste in music and the arts.
He held jobs in various places, including the VA Clinic in Hudson Valley, N.Y.
A native of Masury, Michael throughout the years lived in Buffalo, N.Y.; Boulder, Colo.; and Las Vegas.
Michael is survived by: his mother Deborah Kirk of Masury; an uncle Bruce Kirk of Bollingbrook, Ill.; wife Dawn Chavez and children Xevon and Indira Kirk of Las Vegas; cousins Tracey Dennis-Boamah and family of Columbus, Ohio; Michele Kirk-Keller and family of Farrell; Candice Roberson-Zipfel and family of St. Louis, Mo.; Chris Spruill and family of Columbus; Bryan Phillips and family of Sharon; Chevon Roberson and Monique Kirk of Farrell; and Donovan Kirk of Bollingbrook; a special cousin Kyla Kirk of Farrell; a close friend Erin Lowe of Boardman, Ohio; and many other family and friends whom he met along this journey called life.
His inspiration will leave a lasting imprint forever.
He was preceded in death by his grandparents Mary Jane Kirk and Bruce Kirk and an aunt Diane Kirk-Spruill.
The family will hold a private celebration of Michael's life.
In lieu of flowers, contributions in Michael's memory may be made to the Mahoning Valley Rescue Mission or Humane Society of the United States.
