Mary  Yurgec


Mary "Mitzi" Yurgec, 95, a resident of Hermitage, formerly of Farrell, passed away April 8, 2019.
She was born Marija Strumberger in Vukovar, Croatia. She arrived in the U.S.A. in 1951 accompanied by husband James (Jakob) and their two children.
Mary was a professional seamstress and worked at Sonoff Dry Cleaners in Farrell until retirement, then continuing practicing her profession for family and friends throughout the community up to her time of death.
As an active member and volunteer of St. Anthony Catholic Church, Sharon, for more than 60 years, Mary worked tirelessly for the many fund-raising projects such as the Lenten fish fries, palachinka and baking Easter bread. She was also a member of the Apollo Maennerchor Singers and the Croatian Fraternal Union.
She is survived by a son, George (Judy) Yurgec, South Park; a daughter, Ann Marie (Carlos) Boulton of Apollo Beach, Fla.; grandchildren Alexis (Michael) Saponsky; Matthew (Katie) Yurgec; Mariana (Jeffrey) Heyliger; Juan Carlos (Alyssa) Boulton; nine great-grandchildren: Lizzie, AJ, Maya, Caelyn, Caroline, Andrew, Anthony, Avery and Addison; three nieces, Elizabeth, Helga and Marlene; and three nephews, Rudy, Ericand Klaus.
She was preceded in death by her husband James; parents Adam and Katrina Strumberger; sister Rozina; and brother Anton.
In lieu of flowers, family suggests memorial donations to St. Anthony Church or a charity of choice.

Calling hours: 10:30 a.m. to the time of service Saturday (4-13-19) in the vestibule of St. Anthony Church, 804 Idaho St., Sharon.
Funeral mass: 11 a.m. Saturday (4-13-19) at the church with Rev. Matthew J. Ruyechan, pastor as celebrant.
Burial: Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Cemetery, Hermitage, following funeral mass.

Mitzi was a dear friend and neighbor to us. She was so kind and gracious; we will miss her very much. She never came empty handed to any get together bringing the most delicious baked goodies!
