Mary Alyce Shannon


Mary Alyce Shannon, 84, of Hermitage, passed away on Thursday, May 23, 2019, at her residence.
Born Dec. 24, 1934, in Sharon, she was the daughter of the late William W. and Edna Louise (Williams) Shannon.
She was a 1952 graduate of Sharon High School and a 1956 graduate of Westminster College, where she received her bachelor's degree in education and then went on to receive a master's degree, also from Westminster.
Mary Alyce taught kindergarten at Musser School for 25 years. She was a member of Covenant Presbyterian Church, where she also taught Sunday School and was involved in the youth activities. She was also instrumental in developing the Senior Program at the Salvation Army.
She is survived by a brother, Dr. William T. Shannon of Concord, Calif.; a sister-in -Law, Virginia Shannon of Madison, Wis.; her dear friend Janet Stahl of Hermitage; and five nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by a brother, Jerry K. Shannon, and a sister-in-law, Shirley Shannon.

Calling hours: From 5 to 7 p.m. Monday (5-27-19) at HAROLD W. STEVENSON FUNERAL HOME LLC, 264 E. State St., Sharon.
Service: Funeral will be at 7 p.m. Monday (5-27-19) in the funeral home, with the Rev. Rick Stauffer and the Rev. James Moose officiating.
Burial: Oakwood Cemetery.
