Mary Jean Schneider, of 9 Penn Ave., Greenville, passed away at 11:15 p.m., Saturday, Nov. 11, 2017, at St. Paul's Continuing Care Community, Greenville. She was 89.
Mary was born April 1, 1928, in Bolivar to Sherman and Agnes (Ewing) James, in the same bed and room her father had been born in at her grandparents' home.
She was a graduate of the former Har-Brack High School, Natrona Heights.
Mary married Richard J. Schneider on Jan. 30, 1954. He preceded her in death on Sept. 5, 2009. The couple formerly lived in Brackenridge, Butler, Hermitage, Sharpsville and Mercer.
A lifelong homemaker, Mary enjoyed reading, tending to her flowers and sending cards to everyone and anyone whom she felt needed a friendly word.
Her greatest joys in her life were her children and grandchildren. She loved to spend time with family and enjoyed being a part of all their activities, especially Greenville High School athletics and musical productions and Greenville Area Community Theater.
Her family extended beyond those who shared her ancestry. Her children and grandchildren's friends, as well as many others in the community, knew her affectionately as "Grammy."
Mary is survived by her children, Vicki and John Cousley of Hempfield Township, and Pamela and Thomas Lloyd of Huntsville, Ala.; grandchildren, Adam and Heidi Cousley of Raleigh, N.C., Kelsey and Bradley Wasser of Durham, N.C., Melissa and Matthew Markow of Fredericksburg, Va, and Amy Beth and Jason Mayfield of Huntsville, Ala.; and a great-granddaughter, Abigail Amis of Huntsville.
Those who wish are asked to donate in Mary's memory to a charity of their choice. Also, because of her great love of sending cards, please consider sending a card to someone in nursing care through Love for the Elderly, Box 24248, Cleveland, OH 44124.
